Foreign direct investment (FDI) in Azerbaijan amounted to $3 billion in first six months of 2023, said director of the Central Bank's Statistics Department Samir Nasirov at a media briefing. 


 Foreign direct investment in Azerbaijan's economy amounted to $3.22 billion from January through June 2022. Thus, in the first half of 2023, FDI decreased by 7.5 percent.  

"The total amount of FDI attracted to the non-oil sector is $717 million (a year-on-year decrease of 35 percent). The top five leading countries in terms of FDI in Azerbaijan's economy include: the UK - $896 million (up 6.3 percent), Türkiye - $575 million (up 19.7 percent), Cyprus - $385 million (down 16 percent), Russia - $245 million (down 12 percent) and Iran - $191 million (up 12.4 percent)," he said.  

The top 10 countries in terms of direct investment in Azerbaijan also include: Japan - $128 million, Netherlands - $98.9 million, Hungary - $95.3 million, USA - $79.7 million and Norway - $73.5 million.  

Also, foreign direct investment in Azerbaijan amounted to $6.2 billion in 2022 (30.9 percent growth for the year).
